Ryan has been smithing for over twenty years — through college, the Navy, marriage, fatherhood, and several other lives. The mobile setup means the forge can show up where customers actually are: driveways, breweries, wedding venues, parks, schools. Folk songs and sea shanties keep the rhythm of the work, and audiences regularly find themselves singing along.
The work splits into three areas: experiences (events, weddings, brewery activations, bachelor parties), workshops (hands-on classes from beginner to advanced bladesmithing), and commissions (custom blades, ironwork, and heirloom pieces). Hammer & Fable serves northern Colorado and travels throughout the Front Range and beyond for booked events.

- What's a "mobile blacksmith"?
- A blacksmith who brings the forge, anvil, tools, and full equipment to a venue rather than requiring customers to come to a shop. Hammer & Fable hauls a working forge — propane-fueled, fully insured, fire-safe — to wherever a truck and trailer can reach.
- Is this safe?
- Yes. Full liability insurance, fire safety protocols, and certified equipment. Setup requires standard outdoor clearance from buildings (typically 15 feet); coordination with venue staff and local fire marshals as needed for larger events.
- How is this different from a blacksmithing school?
- Most blacksmithing schools are fixed-location operations. Hammer & Fable is mobile — the forge comes to the customer. The setup also includes live folk music as part of the experience, which is unusual in the industry.
