Bios in three lengths

Short — one sentence

Ryan is a Greeley-based mobile blacksmith and classically trained vocalist who brings the forge — and the songs — to weddings, breweries, schools, and events across Colorado.

Medium — one paragraph

Hammer & Fable is the only mobile blacksmithing experience in Colorado. Ryan, a 20-year smith and classically trained vocalist, travels the Front Range and beyond with an 1800s-style smithy wagon and a safety-orange '94 Dodge Ram, bringing live forge demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and folk music to weddings, breweries, schools, festivals, and private events. Heritage craft, made portable.

Long — for features and event programs

Hammer & Fable is the only mobile blacksmithing experience in Colorado, and likely the only one of its kind in the country. Ryan has been smithing for over twenty years — through college, the Navy, marriage, fatherhood, and several other lives. The mobile setup means the forge can show up where customers actually are: driveways, breweries, wedding venues, parks, schools. Folk songs and sea shanties keep the rhythm of the work, and audiences regularly find themselves singing along.

The work splits into three areas: experiences (events, weddings, brewery activations, bachelor parties), workshops (hands-on classes from beginner to advanced bladesmithing), and commissions (custom blades, ironwork, and heirloom pieces). Hammer & Fable serves northern Colorado and travels throughout the Front Range and beyond for booked events.

Based in Greeley, Colorado.

Common questions
What's a "mobile blacksmith"?
A blacksmith who brings the forge, anvil, tools, and full equipment to a venue rather than requiring customers to come to a shop. Hammer & Fable hauls a working forge — propane-fueled, fully insured, fire-safe — to wherever a truck and trailer can reach.
Is this safe?
Yes. Full liability insurance, fire safety protocols, and certified equipment. Setup requires standard outdoor clearance from buildings (typically 15 feet); coordination with venue staff and local fire marshals as needed for larger events.
How is this different from a blacksmithing school?
Most blacksmithing schools are fixed-location operations. Hammer & Fable is mobile — the forge comes to the customer. The setup also includes live folk music as part of the experience, which is unusual in the industry.
Is Ryan available for interviews?
Yes. Email hammer.and.fable@gmail.com or use the contact form below.
Can I attend an event to see the work in person?
Yes. The Route page lists upcoming public appearances.
